if anyone could help i would be really grateful!

I originally had beau on JWB food and he was great and healthy etc.
However, it isnt the cheapest and I realised that I may have to change him, so I tried him on the same food as the spaniels which is just Wag. He eats it fine etc and is still a healthy weight etc.
However, I realised tonight he was never stiff or uncomfortable when he gets up like he is at the moment when he was on JWB.........
therefore I am concerned that there is a nutritional deficit in the wag compared to JWB (which i am sure it probably does.....) but do you think there could be anything deficient that could cause this stiffness and muscle tightness? I am meaning like something that could result in lactic acid build up or something?

Therefore my idea is:
- buy a small bag of JWB and give him his breaky out of that and wag for tea (as I have LOADS of it left as the bags are huge!) to see if he improves.....

- try a totally different food, preferably one which is not much more expensive as my bank account prob cudnt take it! however if it was the case I cud sacrifice other things to afford the food if it would make him better!

any other ideas would be very much appreciated! please help all you knowledgable doggy people!

Have you had a look at Skinners?

Is similar to JWB - gluten free etc but is half the price. Both of mine are on it and do really well and scoff it down - if you can't find it in feed shop etc you can order online from their website. Also as it is for 'working dogs' its also VAT free - every little helps!!

I emailed them and they promptly replied with a list of local stockists

Mine have been on it for three weeks, nice condition but B's stools could be firmer. If it hasn't improved by the end of the next bag then he is going back on Arden Grange, meh!
Apart from that, I am very happy with it and it is probably just B being a sensitive big dollop, as usual.

I *doubt* such a rapid change in his mobility could be caused by a change of food, correct me if I am wrong, especially if the working dogs are doing well on it. However, like I say, I am willing to be corrected.

well the spaniels are much older (6yo and 8yo) and have been on it for a while and generally dont alter any more by what they are fed (stools, attitude anything!)

where as he has only ever been on hills and JWB. It was just when I came to uni and he started eating more, I had to resort to wagg...... and it wasnt like an overnight thing.....

he has always been a lazy arse getting on stuff etc (but thats just him) but its the getting up and having the lameness that concerns me as it has happened in the past month or so, and he has been on the wagg since....... august ish?!

I am just trying to think what might be causing the tight muscle when he gets up etc and its just all I can think of right now is cramp.......... i.e. lactic acid build up, so I was thinking nutritional or electrolyte imbalance..........

I have emailed skinnners. Hopefully will get a response and I will try him on that!
