I am so confused about feeding my dog. She has been on Bakers complete for about 12 years, the whole time we have had her (I know it has been slated on here but I only read about the issues a few months ago)
Anyway, she has been happy and healthy on this for years, until she got a bout of colitis and is dropping weight. She has been given some tablets to take for the week and vet is looking at the possbility of iritable bowl (he wants to see if these tablets help and if they do, then starts eliminating different foods etc to find a solution) I have started giving her a dog biscuit omlette once a week which she loves and mixing her food with gravy, this is making her eat up, but .....
Vet tells me that eggs are bad for dogs although at her age if she enjoys it than it won't do any harm. He has also advised us NOT to change her food, however, I have been doing a bit of reading up and went to the James Welbeloved (sp) stand at belton and they do an Adult mix (all the senior mixs seem to be low calarie which is no good for her) with glucosimine.
Is it a good idea to change an elderly dogs diet?
Sorry for the ramble but I am really worried and just want some different opinions please.
The vet has also said it is possible her issues are caused by a tumour, bloods etc are the next line to go down.

I would follow your vets advice for now and then look at different food options. Don't forget she is a more mature ladt now so may not do as well as she did in her younger days, Hope she bucks up before too long.

That echos what my mum said tbh. They just go downhill so quickly don't they. A week before she first came down with the colitis she was walking 3-4 miles with no problems, now she lags behind on the lead, its really upsetting!

It is so sad when they age, but she could bounce back yet when she feels better - no one looks their best with a dodgy tummy!
((((((((hugs))))))))
