Noodle is currently fed on Skinner's field and trial with a little bit of chappie to mix the tumeric into, she has cush X supplement (made of mostly milk thistle and chaste berry), you move and salmon oil as extras and according to the vets is in good nick for a nearly 13 year old Malamute. Her muscle wastage is my main concern but obviously there's limits to how much I can do for her at her age but of course I want to do the best I can so just wondered if I should be looking at her food requirements more closely. I feel like I want her to have plenty of protein to help her muscles but then I worry about too much protein being bad for her kidneys etc (although her latest blood test was all fine except the ever rising ALP). Any advice appreciated x

I have never thought ‘senior’ foods are a good idea. Mine are fed Simpsons Premium always on offer for multibuys from zooplus. They have an added slither of Forthglade just meat with it. All ages very healthy.

Thanks, maybe I should continue as I am and just add in relevant supplements as required, she's doing pretty well to be nearly 13 and still doing an hour's walk each day she's just slowed down over the last few weeks ☹️

Most older dogs are 'winding down' and don't 'need' so much muscle or protein, hence the lower amount.
I know the food mine were on started running through them once they'd retired.
You'd probably be better feeding pre-packaged raw.

All ours (house dogs and working dogs) are on Simpsons Premium (as well as raw) and they do really well on it.
