what are the signs that an abcess is about to come out of the hoof

There's usually quite a bit of heat in the foot, and most horses will go from being sound one day to hopping lame the next day.

Most horses go hopping lame etc etc but there are always the odd ones

My horse had an abscess that took 7 weeks to rear it's ugly head, no heat, no raised digital pulse, only 1/2 10ths lame....after 7 weeks he went much lamer and pus was located but took a long time (he is quite a tough boy, quite stoic and has good feet with thich soles). Hope that helps

horses will go lame and foot sore get your farrier out to come and have a dig to see if you find anything!

vet and farrier already been about 3 weeks ago so we were just waiting now but yesterday when i picked foot out one side started really crumbling and a hole sort of came but no pus
