Hi all, 2 weeks ago i had to call the vet as my boy was very lame on his front foot and kept falling over.
she came and said it was an abscess, so she cleaned, poulticed and bandaged it up and i was doing the same for the next 3 days.
The day after the vet had come out, he was walking fine and it looked as though the abscess had come out. i kept poulticing just to be sure.
for 2 weeks now he has been sound - ish, i put him out this morning, he was fine, but when i came to bring him in about an hour ago, he had same symptoms as per when the vet was out. so i have poulticed again.

when i say sound-ish, for a long time now he has rested his back right foot alot when stood, and when he goes to walk off, he always limps for the first 3 or 4 steps then is perfectly fine. this doesnt seem to have any variation on time spent stood though,
some mornings after a night in the stable this happens, some it doesnt.
sometimes he can be stood for all of 5 mins then imps off, sometimes it only occuurs after 30 mins

the vet said dont worry, the bowen therapist i used to use for a previous sore back issue says dont worry and other people on the yeard say its weird but if he walks out of it then is fine then dont worry

But i do worry... a lot!!!!

any advice? please?

Personally - I would poultice again.
My Sec A had an abcess that took two weeks to clear completely.
Good luck,
Bryndy

Unfortunately, my mare can beat that. :( She had an abscess that took three months to get rid of (two Vets and three visits from the Farrier). She would go 'broken leg' lame before the Farrier released the pressure. It was in an awkward place (up near the coronet band, but tracked downwards and came out of an old nail hole) and she had to have a section of her hoof wall cut away in the end to fully get rid of the abscess.
