After reading another thread about knee/ankle pain when riding, this lead me to post this problem of mine. Everytime I ride after about 35 mins I start to get pain all down my left leg, from the hip to the foot then around 15 mins later my foot goes almost completely numb ? I have tried lowering my stirrup and it still happened although not as quickly, does anyone else suffer with this and have they found a cure.
Looked at those flexi stirrups, but unsure wether these would help as the pain starts at my hip then works its way down. Today when I got off my mare, my leg was really painful and felt it would give way completely. Was wondering wether I was having sciatica whilst riding, I occasionly get it but not as bad as when riding. Any help please

It could be sciatica but that depends where exactly your pain is located, it may be back related.
Worth speaking to your gp id say, you may be referred for physio, but well worth going private to kick start the process while you wait for NHS

Thanks for all your replies, maybe a visit to the doctors might be the way to go. Today I was actually nervous about getting off because of how painful it was yesterday, my leg did actually buckle and I landed in a heap under my horses belly. Thankgod my mare just stood there and never battered an eyelid, its getting worse with every month I ride.

go to docs and get an mri - only way to tell - if you have pain or numbness caused by sciatic nerve there will be nerve damage. - I speak from experience. I have had L4/L5 disc removed from spine due to sciatica - my disc was herniated and shredded. It pressed against nerve causing excruiating pain down leg and numbness in foot - After the surgery (which was quick with private medical care) I still have always had numbness across the top of left foot and down the side of left calf caused by nerve damage. You really need to get looked at - even if no pain in leg or buttock still could be something in back restricting the nerve
