As above, Farrier came yesterday and I think he has took to much foot off.

She is hobbling along like an old lady shifting her weight about.

So........ do you think I should give her a bit of Bute for the next few days?

I have never had to give a youngster bute, i would check with the vet first to be honest, the ground is no doubt hard with all this dry weather, you could perhaps moisturise the feet to help them absorb shock a bit better, i know my girls feet are incredibly dry just now

She has had Bute before as she had a recent bout of Lymphangitis.
Her feet are in excellent condition, in the Farriers words "They are lovely solid feet" I think he has just trimmed too much off and has also trimmed her frogs back a bit.

After he had shod my mare I put her back in the field and noticed the youngster was sore but he just said she shouldnt be as he hadn't taken that much off?
Not much I can do about it now I suppose.
So........ should I give her the Bute to ease her a bit?

i wouldn't give her bute but keep her on a nice deep bedding stable. as there is no swelling and but is an anti-inflammatory i wouldn't advice it. especially on something as young but speak to your vet for clarification. bute is given far to often to horses that don't need it and it is a pom so needs to be percribed
