i recently got given and exracehorse that was fresh out of racing.
He had front shoes on when i got him, then he lost one in the stable.
So i rang the farrier to get him to put fronts back on but he said he woudnt be able to put one on, as he has such a thin wall.
Now he has gone footsore....
What can i do ????????

Keep calm :)

Keep him on soft ground/bedding and either dry poultice or invest in a hoof boot.

Other options are hoof casts, Imprints or even Vettec products......

Diet is important to hoof quality. I can send you some info but I would also be cautious about ulcers in an ex racer too - they can mean the horse can't absorb nutrients properly and this has a knock on effect on hoof quality.
