My pony has cushings ems and has been on box rest for 8 weeks she started going out for 2 hours every other day 2 weeks ago and has been fine she is on almost bear grass. She has had front shoes put on the farrier thought it would help her on the stones but she is now really sore on stones but fine on grass and ok on tarmac. she is very sore and lame if i take her over very stony ground. ANy ideas I think her feet are very soft which I guess could be from being in so long when i pick them out you can almost dig into them a little

With Cushings & ems I'd wonder if she was borderline laminitic, though I suppose it could be thrushy feet from being in or bruises from the stones. Any pulses? Personally I'd get the vet to check her acth levels if they haven't been done recently & either the vet or farrier to look at her to see if they thought she was laminitic. To be honest I wouldn't expect soft feet from being in 8 weeks so I'd want that looking at too.

she did have laminitis and that is why they tested her for cushings. She is due to have her levels checked next week and the farrier came last week and was happy with her feet. She has not been out on the grass much and what is out there is almost bare i cant find a pulse or at least not a thumping one.

Forgot to say she has also had thrush but only bad in one foot and is happy walking on the grass in fact she drags you along bless her

Mine has been a little footy with thrush. It was deep in the central sulcus and caused him pain when on stoney ground. I am assuming you are treating the thrush, so make sure you get get right in deep to the sulcus. My farrier gave me a nail to push cotton wool soaked in iodine deep inside which worked a treat.

I would be concerned she is sore with shoes on, I vaguely remember your last post, but can't remember if you had had xrays done? Might be worth going down this route, things can change overnight with lami ponies/horses anyway.

Really look hard at the diet/management of bedding, feed, movement, pain relief etc. Make sure she is getting enough salt (a lick is not always enough) as something is still not right if she is not coming right. It might be worth getting the shoes off and investing in a pair of Simple RX boots to get the sole supported and the pressure relieved on the soles.

Also, bare in mind that the grass is still growing, and on bare paddocks means she will be 'gorging' on the newer, sweeter shoots. A horse can eat as much in an hour as it can in 12 hours. Try feeding some soaked hay/straw before turning out to prevent the initial 'omg, I am starving, I need to scoff my face' they can get.

Eta: I swear by cleantrax for thrush. I use Puregreen 24 spray for daily maintenance, but Milton does a perfectly good job too as a soak, and as a daily spray.
Red Horse Hoof cleanse has a good reputation and has 50% off on it's FB page through H&H.

She did have xrays which showed very slight roation and she had become sound her shoes have only been on a few days becasue she was having trouble with the stony ground on her front feet which are now fine she just seems sore on the back more. SHe is not on pain relief just soft bedding and is on soaked hay and fast fibre for her medicine.

...I would get the vet as soon as poss.. sounds like laminitis could still be a problem , cushings is one of the main causes of laminitis so if her levels have risen this could be the source of the problem.
