Ok, went out for a hack yesterday, half way round, heard a loose shoe so got off and was held on by one nail! Wasn't sure what to do so thought I'd lead him home as it was. But shoe kept twisting round under his hoof so he would be stood on it or half on it etc. HAd another look and it was very loose, sort of wiggled it off, didn't hurt him as he stood as quiet as a lamb and walked him home fine from there.

Today go up and see him and he seems slightly not happy, he's fine in himself but has a slightly altered stride in front, as in savouring this foot.... the yard doesn't have much yard to walk straight/trot in a line so did my usual feed/rug and put him back out.

Will lead him onto the road later to get him looked at properly but is it something I should leave a few days to rest or should I have called the vet asap?!

Anyone else has similar problem? First problem with new horse! Scary!

Farrie due on tuesday.... he's happy to walk on it just seems slightly sore (Although I can understand why!)

Cheers, I know if he was majorly lame I wouldn't think twice about calling the vet but sometimes I doubt my own knowledge, especially with my own.....great at giving advice to others!

The horse will look a little off balance having lost a shoe. Don't change your routine, phone your farrier, and have the shoe put back on.

Yep, the orange one is mine!

He's still the same, slightly uneven but the ground doesn't help as it's hardly level either!

Brought him in today.....bad news. He's worse! Luckily farrier was in the area and came and looked at him, it appears he has a bruised (or perhaps punctured?!) sole, an area of "softness" where he thinks he has either stood on a sharp object or clip of a shoe?

Have poulticed him, he shall be staying in the night, will do some hot tubbing aswell! Poor horse, it's horrble seeing him hobbling around!
