Was just wondering what boots you all wear at the yard for general yard duties, mucking out etc
I keep buying muckers and the rubber breaks at the back or side within a couple of months

(I change my boots to ride so they dont need to be suitable for riding in)

I have some river dublins but I dont want to be doing yard jobs in my expensive boots

I got some Ariat (or were they Mountain Horse...) paddock boots. Man-made, but very warm and waterproof, although they're only come up just above the ankle. Only £40.

I was looking for some reasonably tough wellies to wear round the yard, but the wotsit boots beat them to it :D

I have had my muck boot company muck boots for about 5 years now, i use them in the winter and they have done well, and hunters in the summer cos they r a pretty colour.
I wonder if horse pee is causing people's muck boots to disintegrate? My OH is a surfer and as you may or may not know, surfers pee in their neoprene wetsuits to warm themselves up (urgh!) He always rinses his wetsuit thoroughly (in the shower :( ) to remove the piddle which apparently rots the stitching and glue at the seams.
My gelding hates peeing in his stable and hence his bed is not very piddly, so I don;t end up with piddle on my boots. Whereas my friends horse is really messy and her boots broke in the same place as yours? As have several other peoples.
Just my theory anyway...
So if your horse is piddly don't use neoprene boots?

I splashed out and got some Le Chameau Vierzonord (neoprene lined) as I suffer from freezing feet. They're great and well worth the money.

Cheap green Dunlop wellies! They do really well, just the acidic water off the muck heap that I have to wade through at some times of year that finally causes a split or crack but at about £8 a throw if they last me 8 months I'm happy. I spent my money on decent long riding boots and jodhpur boots as wanted something safe and long-lasting to ride in.

I wear my Rydale boots for everything. I just treat them every so often with waterproofing agent. This'll be their third summer, so they've been pretty robust.

I had a pair of Rydales, loved them, but I wore them to death (riding, mucking out, dog walking etc, I eventually killed them, but great value I'd have another pair.

I um use my Ariat grasmeres, really shouldnt they keep my feet warm, before i had them it was short boots and chaps.
