for adult welsh D and pony riders some advice please

Magic_magpie - your boy is GORGEOUS!

On topic: yes you should be totally fine riding a Welsh D, I'm 5'9 and have a 15.1hh D who I don't look or feel big on at all because they take up so much leg, when I was looking for a horse I looked at several 15.2/16 hh TB and WB types and looked big on all of those, Welshies are much more fun anyway

Ponies rock. I'm 5'7, I own a 14hh haffie. He is just the sweetest, most adorable, fun pony I've ever had the pleasure to know. We do general riding club stuff, dressage, SJ, gonna try some XC and some eventing as well.

Personally I struggled to find the 'right horse' for me because I'm a resonably competant rider and I definitely didn't want a plod... I like wizzy sharp horses who can challenge me a bit. At the same time a nasty fall had left me with somewhat fragile confidence particularly on horses I don't know. Finding the balance between "too scarey" and "too boring" was something of an issue. My fizzy, lively, sparkly little pony proved to be the perfect compromise as I get all the fun of a sharp horse without being quite so high off the floor
