I did it! I have paid my deposit and I think I can now show you my gorgeous new boy!!!

He is just delish and I am so excited! I think he will grow up into a handsome chap! He is being weaned and will arrive after that! (I know, the tail is a bit weird, but it is the way the Spanish do it, it's going to grow as soon as he gets to me!)

I have never understood why the Spanish shave their mains and tails as youngsters (aren't the mares kept like it permanently?), tradition is the reason I guess, it must be horrible in such a hot country though, no fly protection.
 
Oh well done! I did wonder about the bog brush at his rear end but now understand its a tail :) Have lots of fun together. :):):)

The reason the spanish keep their mares this way is because most of them live in herds and it prevents matted manes, the tails are for hygienic reasons as most mares are broodies.

The babies are trimmed because the spanish believe that it makes the mane grow thicker.

OP is that baby from Star Andalusians? If so is he by Metano or Lengueto?

Here is to your first spanish horse - be aware that once you have one it is so so tempting to get another! Wishing you lots of happy times with your new baby!
 
Good for you! I read your last post and hoped you'd go for it! I got mine from them (a Lengueto grandson) and he is the best thing in my life!

Ahhh he is the one out of the new mare Barrocha - he's lovely :D

I have a 3yo by Lengueto out of my imported mare and I also have one due to Metano next year. The other black mare Estrella is Amaranta's daughter :)
 
Well! We're sort of related then! I'm so pleased, Barrocha is his mother and his sire is a Spanish stallion called Cacao V so he should make 16hh as dad is quite big.

It is a life long dream turned into reality, my YO is being amazing and really accommodating too. I know I have loads to learn, but it's just so exciting!

Start my new job weds so really hope I can take a few days off after he arrives so fingers crossed! :D

My friend has a Mare from Star (Yucateco III x Amaranta VIII) - shes 5 now, we're off to the BAPSH show next weekend with her and my friends other Partbread Andy,

Cant wait to see the updates of him as you go along!


PS. I actually came to quite like the hogged look while i was at the BAPSH show last year!

Well then your friend's mare is out of mine - is she Celestial or Solstice by any chance?

Ahh yes, of course, she was Estrella's baby, so my mare is actually her grandmama :D

*whispers* blame Amaranta for the mind, all her babies are, shall we say 'interesting' characters :o but they also move like you would not believe :), she has really strong genes and Estrella is like a black clone of her!

Yes, he should make 16hh, I am 5'8" so need a fairly big un! even at 15.3hh he should be a good size!

Vetting tomorrow, then weaning. god i just can't wait! the next 3/4 weeks are going to go soooooooo slowly!! :)
 
Doesn't he just! I bet he turns into the poser that his big brother already is! Honestly, with K you get the camera out and he is like Zoolander! Bam! pose! Bam! pose!

Oh I cannot wait! Eeek!
