So hypothetically...

When riding across a field if you came across a person sitting at a table with a big sign behind them reading 'We buy any Thoroughbreds.com' would you leap off hand over your reins and walk home...

I felt like it this weekend.

Spring grass should be banned. Nature needs to come up with another way.

Grrr.

:D

Yes, I'd also give them whatever I had on me at the time (money, phone, jewellery etc) for having her!

It did actually cross my mind at one point while schooling the other day to just get off him and leave him there. School isn't at my yard so he probably wouldn't even find his way back straight away!! In fact that isn't the only time I have come very close to deserting him while riding. My horse has actually decided to spook in the field at EVERYTHING since being turned out full time. Looking forward to riding this week NOT!!:D

Ah, that is supposing that you can catch said horse to begin with.

Ella and I have been playing this game over the last week, it is called "Not happening!"

I blame it on the grass, hormones, sunshine ...

We have it down to a fine art now, I go into the field and she trots in circles around me.

I open the gate and she goes into a smaller field and trots in circles around me, I pick up a strategically placed rope giving her no option where to go and she goes into the round pen ...and trots in circles around me.

Yesterday she went straight into the round pen, faced me, heaved a huge sigh and walked up to me so (after I had recovered from the shock) I put her straight back out in the field.

Today, who knows ...

I've felt like that several times with my exracer but since she's been retired I've really missed her enthusiasm and willingness that my ID just doesn't have. So as she's looking very well, sound and less stiff, in fact no sign of stiffness at all since living out 24/7 I'm going to have a little sit on this week and see how it goes. She did look 22 when I retired her but a few months off and she's blooming again plus I do really miss the bad bits as well as the good.

I'd have to say no!

Mine are all being incredibly well behaved at present and we've spent the weekend doing lots of hacking, pub rides and lessons.

Sorry to gloat!!

I actually wouldn't. I love a springy horsey :D I've grown up with whizzy and whizzy naughty ponies, so my teo TBs are just carrying on from my childhood :)

(plus, so far, mine haven't fone anything drastic)

Oh wow- LynH....did you write this or did I?
After what I thought was years of hell and never ending problems my TB has been retired, I now just ride my IDx, who's gorgeous and lovely but my god he can be stubborn and just a bit unwilling some days.

I hope it all go's well with your girl and you manage to get her going again. I can highly recommend Equine America's Buteless extra strength for her. Without it my ridden horse would also be retired!

You stand by gate and call her name. She walks sedately up to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every time. But I did have a mare that an hour of cajolling with feed buckets etc etc would no convince her to be caught I had her for 22 years. I miss her still. Sleep sweet Phantom till we meet again.

Haha! I LOVE competing mine, as he uses all that energy for the best!!

But schooling at home last week, I did dismount at one point, walk him in a circle, controlling my anger before mounting again! It was IMPOSSIBLE to keep a soft contat in canter hahaha:D

Sometimes threaten to tie mine to a fence and go home with out her - mainly at dressage competitions.

If anyone ever comes across a grumpy looking mare in said predicament, please look after her (and don't get bitten).

(obviously I love her to bits deep down)

My first thought was that if I was riding through a field and came across a person sitting at a table with a big sign behind them, my horse would stop dead, spin and head for the hills ;)

Couldn't possibly.... fizzy beast would have already spooked at the table+ sign and wouldn't go near :D

Edit -

Damn you beat me to it :p
