Hi guys!
I didn't know if anyone has the same problem or if anyone has any ideas they are greatly welcomed :D
Im 5ft 11 and although i can hide short jods & breeches with long socks and boots! I can not for the life of me find a showing or hacking jacket that is long enough for my blimmin arms !!
When i was younger i could get away with it at the local shows but now i'm entering showing competitions with the youngster i would like a nice tweed jacket. Or even a jacket for when we start showjumping.
In the past i've even bought suit jackets from Long Tall Sally as there the smartest ones i've been able to find !!

Has anyone tall been able to find a bespoke maker (although i didn't really want to spending a small fortune)
Or somewhere that sells jackets catering to us talleys?

Thanks !!
x

Try Equetech, all their jackets seem to come up long in body and arms, the new tweed one is great and I also have a plain navy one, other than that the only one that was any good was my ancient Barbour navy one which is about 8 years old and a good tall persons fit, but they don't do them anymore!
Watch Equetech for sizing, you may need to go down one.

What have you tried so far? I'm 6' and have currently got a variety of Caldene and Tagg jackets that fit, both show and tweed jackets. Pikeur do a longer length jacket if you wanted a show jacket. I've found that I have to try on lots of models when I've been looking to buy though as the same size, same make in different models has fitted totally differently. I hate LTS clothes with a passion, hugely overpriced tat.

I'm 5'10" and have a dublin jacket, I cant remember what the name of the style is, when i get home i'll have a look and let you know,

here i am wearing it and the sleeves are fine for me...

Just to say I have the same problem but at the other end of the scale. I'm a petite 5'1 and the sleeves on anything off-the-shelf are too long. It's such a pain. I can sympathise with anyone who's not 'average'. :(

I have the same problem !

I'm 5ft 11 and I'm a size 6 and have humongous arms!!

I would be interested in rePlies as need a new tweed an I love the equetech Kenton jacket

I'm about 5ft9 and I absolutely love my Lucinda Green Jackets, they seem pretty long in arms and body. I have a pikeur jacket as well but I prefer the fit and style of my Lucinda Green one.

My daughter is 5'10" and her arms are a little long for regular jackets.

Her current jacket is a made to measure from Le Beau Cheval, which cost the same price as their off the peg jackets. They offer great personal service.

Brocklehursts of bakewell offer a made to measure service on tweed jackets and they are very gorgeous! Bit pricey but a good tweed will last a lifetime, their tailor claims to have one about 40 years old! You can catch them at some of the horse trials or visit them in store. You can choose your tweed and have the jacket made precisely to your requirements.

Spyda, a good tailor can shorten sleeves easily, would be worth looking into.

lengthening them is a bit more of a problem but can sometimes be done.......

I have monkey arms too, it is ridiculous and I cannot fit in any standard jackets. I tend to go for Pikeur long length as they are almost OK, but not quite. However, I now have a John Whitaker Gammon jacket...it is for men, but the arms are far longer than women's ones and it looks the best that I have found off the rail :)

Unless you have £350++ I think you will be pushed to find a nice made to measure jacket.

I am 5'9 but have really long arms! Have tried loads of jackets but the only ones off the peg that fit are Pikeur. They do a Long length, can't get hold of them that easily so try Panache Equestrian as they order them in from Germany and are quite quick.

I recently got the Pikeur Diana in long but then took it to my local dry cleaners who have a tailor who lengthened the arms more for me. It is now perfect and is like having a made to measure. Only cost £10 to lengthen the arms.

It is such a pain being tall! :)

Google Mrs Candy. She has loads of jackets made up to people's very odd sizes (not saying you are odd btw!)

So making longer arms and a longer skirt would not be a problem.

You could try Mears Pytchley. I'm only 5'5" and own one, but don't wear it because it almost comes down to my knees!! I have very long arms and they're the only brand that I can wear without the arms being altered first :o

I had made daughters made from Alexander James, she was not only tall but had a long body and small bust so the jackets were totally out of porportion for her. Was about £350.
My older daughter is a seamstress and does alterations, she doing someones hunt coats at the moment. Its not that expensive to have them altered.

Mears come up long and it the only brand I can wear (I'm 5'9") without going custom, that is long enough in the arms for me and has a nice fitted shape to show off and hourglass figure. I'm having a Mears side saddle habit made for me too as my 1934 habit is a bit short in the arms for me :p

I got a Mears tweed jacket made-to-order from somewhere online (can't remember at the mo!), they do a semi-bespoke thing where you can have the sleeves and/or body made up an inch, or two inches longer, or shorter, than average.

Lovely jacket, arms and body are perfect, but it won't go around my heaving bosoms!

Ah well...
