He's giving them so much air and tbh I thought they were pretty big jumps! I look pathetic compared to you haha! Yeh we did video it, just need to get round to putting them on the computer! :p

Wow, he is really giving it some air. He is an impressive showjumper and shame about that fence. We were up there from Friday to Monday and for some reason didnt get to see the showjumping, apart from the Open. Regarding your rant, I do agree with you. L even noticed the fact that most parents were doing everything for their offspring. I told her she was lucky to have a horse, especially one as nice as hers. I am not averse to a bit of studding up, chalking up Bonns many white bits, tacking up etc, but she is her horse and has to get on with it! I also agree re the lorries etc. There were some seriously expensive lorries on that lorry park.

Same with the horses there. Most of them were not what I call a 'proper PC pony or horse'. The night before the open dressage we contemplated on our chances - our trainer was going to be happy if we came in the top 8 as we are not a traditinal dressage PC. To be honest, both L and I decided to just enjoy the day and what will be, will be. There were some totally fantastic and obviously very expensive horses there and we were shocked to find we had won it!!!!

Anyway wont rain on your parade, he is a lovely boy and well done you.

I didn't read you're orginal report I must have missed it but well done fab result. It is always frustrating when you have the first fence down (or last!). I think you ride him really well, you sit very quiet and just let him go in his own rythmn. I don't think you did anything wrong in to that first fence maybe you could have sat up a tiny bit more just before take off to let him get his front legs up more quickly but having said that he was lazy and didn't help you out. Maybe if he was slightly more off the leg to the first he may have jumped higher? But i wouldn't beat yourself up over it. Generally though over the uprights he doesn't look the most careful in front, he makes up for it by jumping high over the jumps, but he doesn't really tuck his front legs up. I would practice at home with V poles and short bounces and doubles to get his front legs up a bit quicker. I can't wait to hear more of your progress together well done again :)

thanks everyone, very wise words claire_p2001.. agree with all that you have said. Ive had him 4years now, and he has never had the best technique over a fence with his front end, but he does very rarely have a pole. He jumps round courses 1.20+ at home with no problems, but he never jumps the first fence well, so i was a bit annoyed the first fence was an upright! :p I do agree that hes a bit lazy over uprights especially, he just uses his scope so that he doesnt have tyo pick his front legs up! anyway, going to have him looked at by the vet as he has learnt his flying changes and was becoming disunited alot, and also is very very slightly unlevel on left hand O so will try and find out whats wrong, get it sorted, then get cracking! :)
