G would be a BMW X5... shield be good on all terrain but has a tendency to refuse to perform on anything but road when out. Can pick up a good pace on a long flat, plenty of power.
Has the brand power that attracts a, ahem, certain type (G is a retired show jumper) and pretty well put together and reliable if regularly serviced and topped up with fuel.
Looks very pretty when cleaned and polished up.
NB I would love a BMW, so please no one take offence to my likening show jumpers to Beamer drivers
My old horse, an Irish cob, would have been a Toyota Pick up truck. If you've seen top gear when they tried to defeat one you'll get what I mean. Literally just steamed on ahead regardless what conditions he faced, always started first time, a few old battle scars but trusty and much, much loved. I'd have him back in a flash even though he's old.
Ron would be a landrover defender... but one of the ones that's been spec'd up and chipped, so he accelerates like a very fast accelerating thing, though the top speed isn't that fast!
Tom would be a mini - just a bit of fun to be around and about in, sharp, agile and quite athletic
35yo arab - e-type jag. Absolute classic, super fast in it's day, still has a turn of speed but aging engine is cherished by owner. Clean, smart lines, irreplacable.
HW Cob - one of those dancing JCBs you see at shows. Does fantastic improbable things for it's shape (Aff Ele dressage) but is a real workman. Plows through anything and everything. Push button drive but can surprise you!
IDxTB - Land rover. Utterly reliable in all weathers, can turn a hoof/wheel to anything. Good looking but not flashy or trendy. Suitable brown colour for off roading but polishes up beautifully for a posher event.
Strong leg in each corner type, keeps trudging onwards even over rough terrain, has a turn of speed when he uses it but not often. Agility is somewhat disguised
Molly would be a stick shift (manual transmission) Lotus - hard to drive but cool and she knows it. swerves easily and explodes if it hits something surprising
