FOR FUN: Random cross breeding that works...or doesn't!

Appaloosa x Dales with a dash of Welsh and Cob in there (And the Appaloosa has a good mix of QH, TB and Arab if you go back a few generations- a real mix!)

Simba is a Connie x ID, which isn't something you see all that often, usually there's cob or tb in there somewhere. He had a terribly ugly phase (looked like his head and body were from a 17hh ID and his legs and neck were from a 14hh connie) and we were all starting to worry, but he seems to finally be growing into himself!

A few years ago I saw the most gorgeous filly for sale, never could quite get her out of my head - she was a dun arab x highland, and had tonnes of presence. I often wonder what she turned out like, she's probably be backed now!

I've met a few of those. Arab x Highland or TB x Highland is a really nice cross.

I always thought arab x highland would look odd but it seems to really work.

I used to have a Suffolk x Hannoverian by Augermann. He was huge, orange, built like a brick outhouse and had the most amazing floaty trot. Lovely chap. I'm a sucker for a Suffolk though..

I wonder if these floaty trots are heavy breed orientated? Malteser has the most amazing trot. He has two trots, one normal and one power-I-can-go-30mph-like-this-trot. You cants sit or rise to it... Just stand in the stirrups and enjoy.

Yep, we had the 'hover above the horse and feel like you're flying trot'. I'm sure he could levitate!

Must say tallyho, your chap is rather smart.

Thank you, I will tell him! And yes!!! That's exactly it! You do have to hover and grin (hoping no flies get stuck between yer teeth! ) I drove him too and he did this it was amazing!

I thought mine was a little random Andalusian x welsh b. all the hot and hyper from both, mad as a bag of monkeys but utterly awesome...and quite easy on the eye!

Shetlands crossed with anything are ugly as hell!

completely disagree!! The little old boy in my avatar is shetland x cob he was 11.2, absolute b**tard, built like a brick **** house and knew it! but very handsme IMO. Hes now on the other side of the rainbow but he was 33 in that pic and others in my album and looked fab.

I knew an Arab x cob. It had the body of a cob, with the head and legs of an arab with enormous feet and a high knee action. Not a good result! Pretty dapples though.

I had a 17.3hh unregistered new forest x - if I hadn't have known the mum I would have laughed but she just scrapped 14hh.God knows what the sire was :) He wasn't an amazingly well put together horse but I had some amazing times with him

Must admit I had a 2nd look at the Arab x Clydesdale as I'm a massive fan of both breeds and it is a cutie!! Mum (or dad) was a midget clydie though at only 15hh. They're usually born at that height lol

This is my lad, belived to be Appaloosa x Irish Draught but we arent 100% sure as no recorded breeding. I have wondered if he may be a knabstrupper cross.

Silver bucksin snowflake appaloosa, quite a lot of bone and a reasonable amount of feather in the winter.

I wasn't going to pick one over another as all horses are special in one way or another, but, TheMule, I love your horse! She looks beautiful.
