Even as i type this question, it sounds stupid to me, but I am a firm believer that the only really stupid question is the one you don't ask - so here goes.
If you loan a horse from someone, would you expect to make some kind of payment, token or otherwise? As i understand it, a loan doesn't involve payment to the actual owner. So if i loaned a horse, it would essentially be a "free" horse, and then I would be responsible for all the costs of care, livery, feed, vets bills, insurance, etc.
