Still trying to get my nerves back after the infamous "Fun" ride where I was bucked of big time at full tilt.

Anyhow my best friend knows what it is when yor nerves are jangled and fresh from two weeks in Greece phoned me up and invited me to Box over for a hack.

Well my young man is indeed a saint.

I got prepared to load the 17hh of Snorting beast Hat,Gloves, lead rope attached to headcollar,Lunge line attached to Bridle my OH (my old man is also a saint) got a Broom ready just incase and Drifter looked me in the eye and muttered something like Urlow Mum is I going out!

And yet again the poufy little navy anklets called travel boots with their feiry red fleece lining did the trick. Walked him up to the ramp and he strolled up the ramp and parked his bigself in his trailer.

I Dived out the grooms door knowing my OH might not get the bar across quickly enough and caught the big lad gazing at me telepathically he winked and said "Ramp up then".

and thats about as tough as it got. He was a sweetheart at my friends farm. We hacked around the lanes and he did not react badly to any of the heavy traffic which appeared out of the blue .(The quiet lane had a diversion on it as a road was blocked)

I wasnt brave enough to accept the invitation to canter up the fields as I had managed to come out without my stronger bit and I need that as aComfort Blanket.

But I have to say when put in the right situation my Great Lump of young horse is an absolute Saint. Now I have to try and get my friend to have another day off soon as possible when I shal put 4 pairs of knickers on my cross country bit and a Martingale just so as I feel safe.

For those of you who are not scaredy cats and have never had a real fright on horseback - Dont Read This.

For those of you who have and understand I did wear my new hat and my body protector.

Fantastic! I am of the ame stock as you.

I had a nasty fall last year. Cue helicopter and a nice ride to a hospital stay for me.

NOTE TO ALL PLEASE ALWAYS WEAR A HAT!

Anyway. I was so scared to hack after that. Josie got very nappy and it all got a bit stupid.

She then became very lame. Had surgery on her suspensory lig, and is now a 'hack only'. She's been an absolute star nd I'm surprised I've coped so well with hacking her out daily as part of her rehab.

I gues once she'd been taken away, I just bit the bullet as I wanted her back so much.

Cant wait for the day I can canter her up the field again.

With 4 pairs of knickers my big bit and a martingale!!! But I'll be there!

Isn't it great when you know not only has your horse been good, be they've actually tried to look after you too.

Well done

One of the things I forgot was that when I first met my mate about um errh 26 years ago I was a once a week rider who had a nasty experience on a Riding School horse while on a Ride-Out (anyone who knows where I keep my horse it was not here it was elsewhere).

The mother of the YO at my current yard regularly took me on one to one rides to help me get my nerve back and then helped me get my first horse and then my mate Di took me over and taught me horses dont bolt when they see grass.

Today she said to me gosh you are neraly as bad as when I first met you. She is wrong there I am more stubborn now it is just unfrtunate that you cant tow a trailer after knocking pack a bottle of Pinot otherwise I would be fine.

QR on the Hat front I went out and got the safest I could find.

I cannot understand anyone sitting on something as unpredicatble as a horse with nothing on their heads. Even the best horse in the world can be spooked.

Giving up on spelling tonight cat keeps trashing keyboard.
