how do you get out competing?

I have been out a couple of times, and love it, but no-one to take me anymore

will be doing trailer licence at some point when I can afford it, but its so annoying when I want to go out now!!!

I have a lovely OH who takes me everywhere. I am very lucky as its his horse so he likes seeing it improve.

I am in the process of organising lessons though.

I used to have to rely on my mum to drive me to events and lessons. As I keep my horses at home, it was very restrictive.

I took my trailer licence about 18 months ago. I have since got my own 4x4 and now go out on my own. It gives me so much more freedom and I would definately recommend that you take your trailer test as soon as possible.

In all, it cost me about £500 (including taking the test twice)!

Are you able to practice reversing with the trailer on in a field (before it gets too muddy)?

Alternativily, is there anyone at your yard that you could get a lift with?

No-one else at the yard really competes, and when there is an outing, its all the kids, and even if i've said I want to go, get pushed out if another child wants to go

Was thinking about doing trailer licence next year after I have finished my disseratation.

£500 isn't to bad... I thought it would be nearer £1000

I guess im really lucky as i have the chance to travel with my YO/trainer when she takes her youngsters to shows about twice a month, also have a trailer which the OH pulls, so gives me a bit of freedom if i want to go out alone.

Im saving up to do my LGV as we want a lorry of our own.

my mum used to have to take me everywhere but I took my test in May this year so I dont have to rely on her anymore, especially if we need to go to the vets or a lesson and shes busy.
THink it cost me about £350 in total for my test and lessons

I have to rely on my parents, but as it's not their 'thing' it generally doesn't happen, and our trailer has been out of action since June because I can't persuade either of them to take it for new tyres. Its a nightmare not having my own transport, have only managed to get out to 3 competitions in the last year, and getting him to the vets next week is costing me a bloody fortune!

I rope my dad into coming along, but not being horsey he doesnt really see a point to dressage and clinics, which is what i need to do, but he is quite happy to come along and watch if i'm jumping! esp if i buy him a cuppa tea and a burger!! lol

I drive with L-plates and my dad sits in the passenger seat, so he doesnt have to drive either!
I'm taking my test next month! I cant wait, i'll be able to do what i want - winter full of dressage ready for next season!!

I have a fantastic other Half that takes me everywhere. I wish I could aford to do my test to take the presure off him. He is a lorry driver so the last thing he wants to do is take me everywhere! He only moans occasionally. As he has His HGV if we got a lorry he would be able to drive that too so its not really cost effective for me to take my test.

I wish I could aford to do my test. !!!!!!!! :-(
