I've tried looking for the answer in your signature but can't find it, so hoping you can help.
Just before I spend any more money on my towing lessons/test I want to check if I definitely have to do it!
My jeep cherokee crd 2.8 automatic has a kerb weight of 2150kg and my ifor 510 has a mam of 2700, I also have a single 410 with a mam of 1600kg.
My horse weighs 500kg.
So do I need to take a test?
Thanks

You need the gross vehicle weight of the jeep, IIRC, not the kerb weight - but moot point as even the 2150kg plus the IW410 MAM is over 3500kg so yes, test ahoy (and I hate it all, too!).

B+E need for that set up

The only extra rule for the towing of a trailer more than 750 kgs MAM on a B licence is ....
Vehicle GVW added to trailer MAM must not total more than 3500 kgs

GVW and MAM mean the same thing which is the maximum something can legally weigh when fully loaded

My jeep cherokee crd 2.8 automatic ...... gvw is 2550 ..... and my ifor 510 has a mam of 2700
Totals 5250 total MAM so well over the 3500 limit

The max MAM trailer for 2550 GVW on a B licence would be 950 which is no good for a horse trailer

Since 19/01/2013 when they revoked the rule where it used to be the MAM of the trailer must not be greater than vehicle kerb weight things have got much simpler to calculate whether a set up is ok or not for B licence towing
