Just got in and we are all really tired especially Duke
Arrived about 12.30 and walked the course, seemed fairly robust for an early one but nothing tricky except 14a/b which was a bit confusing due to numbering but someone kindly explained
Jump up onto a bank then bounce out straight over a palisade drop, straight after that a corner - Jack's bogie fence. Intro was going on while we walked and saw quite a few rider falls and lots of shouting
Had a bacon and egg sarnie in the lorry kindly prepared by OH
Dressage next, Jack was very pleased with him so were a bit disappointed to score 41.5 but they were all fairly high marks. SJ was upto height and quite twisty, warmed up really well and straight in after 2 mins to learn the course. His jumping has really improved since last season, had 2 down, 3 and think J buried him into 8
Then Jack forgot about number 9, did a lovely circle and got another 4 penalties
Oh well first one and all that
Onto xc or the 'best bit' as Jack said, was last to go so a long wait to start or so it seemed to a nervous Mum. Finally off and had a good look at first then decided 'oh yes I remember this' and over, lost sight but heard commentator say 'scrambled over 2 and 3' (Jack later said that he took a while to get going
). Cue 'oh God' look between parents, didn't hear anything until ' gone through Adams Apple really well' then came up the hill, over the sharks teeth, through the quarry and onto 14 - where he did the best jump I've seem him do and onto the corner which he popped nicely. Hence embarassingly loud cheering from Mum, into and out of the water and safely over the last jump.
Finished 11th just out of placing but great first run, had 26 something time penalties but time seemed hard to get.
Glass of Pinot Grigio if you got to the end
