Does anybody have a high quality horse/pony which they show county level etc that has a scar or scarring blemish, i.e white hair?? Do you show them with this white hair covered with make-up?

I had a county level show pony that got white hair scarring and I thought, crap can't show it anymore. However, I did a pretty good job at covering it with some make-up. Would you still try and show county level with this?? And would you still advertise the animal as county level??

Sorry - don't know the answer to your question, but I read your title as 'showers' as in baths! Wondered what you were on about!

I do know that my friend's son does WHP and they cover a white bit of scar hair with dye. He has been to HOYS with this pony so I guess it's ok.

Yes, the use of make up to cover hairs and blemishes is widely done - it can't disguise conformational faults or hide areas that are so scarred as to lack hair, but can tidy up odd bits. The use of discreet "finishing touches" elsewhere on the horse can make or break your turnout too - won't raise your line in the placings if your horse isn't up to condition or schooling up to scratch, but you will look and feel more profesisonal and "in place"!

I have a horse that I have showed at County level, I do working hunter with her, so that might make a difference, she really is an eventer and I do BE with her, but shes a nice WHer. She has the odd small scar on her legs and has about 4 white hair lines across her ear where she injured it in the field back as a 3yr old. I have never tried to cover them up at a show and even at the county level shows, with the judge riding her, no one has ever mentioned it and still placed well for her conformation ect.

Ah, interesting! Thanks guys, that's really useful. The little pony has on hind leg a patch of white hair about 4cm long and 2cm wide of white scar hair. Otherwise appart from that she is a cracking show pony, really has that "look at me" factor. If only she could've been nice to her field mates!!!!
