I would love to hear your experiences. I am in the process of learning to tow with my partners truck and cattle trailer with a view to attempting to take the test in the nearish future, and would apprecaite any of your views/experiences with this. Thanks very much.

Sorry to bump this up but I only just saw it when looking for something else.

I sat my test last week and failed.
The driving was fine but I hit a cone when doing the reverse exercise and that is an automatic fail.
The test is about 80% driving on the road for about 50 mins and you need to un-hitch and rehitch the box safely doing it the 'proper' way which is harder than it seems. You also need to do an emergency breaking from 20mph to stop which isn't hard.

Also driving with the box on is slightly different in terms of which lane you need to be in for roundabouts so I made a mistake there (but then I had no tuition before I sat the test just read up lots on it)
They test you on the same level as an HGV licence even though it's not so it's quite hard.
Also I since I failed I decided to do a course and retake my test on the second day. The trainers said that they genuinely don't know a single person who has sat the test in their own vehicle and box who has passed. I know that could be construed as them touting for business but they seemed genuine and I have certainly heard plenty of horror stories from people who have failed a few times

Good luck feel free to PM me if you want to ask anything specific.
