For those of you who work full-time

My farrier does my girlie without me there so I just organise for her to be in when he arrives. Other appointments are taken as flexible time off work. However I am mid 6week course of acupuncture for my girl and vet that does it only does Thursdays, so we have now arranged she comes at 7am and I can still get to work for 9ish! I just couldn't take 6 Thursday afternoons off in a row!!!

I take annual leave for farrier and planned vet visits.

Emergency vets then I still take annual leave so far work have been good about leave at short notice for vets visits but then I don't have children so don't need the paid leave for emergency child illness & doctors appointments for children that the others sometimes do. I also dont tend to take AL during the school holidays when all the people with kids want to be off. Also don't need maternity leave either. I also manage to come to work when there is snow which some people could not do as the school were shut at short notice.

I needed the day off at short notice for a vet visit last friday and work were good I took it as annual leave but whilst waiting for the vet telephoned in for an hour teleconference meeting. Someone else also telephoned in as their wife is expecting a baby and so they were working from home.

This week i could not attend a vets visit so i left the pony out overnight and bought him in on the morning, changed rugs and groomed him before going to work then my husband met the vet later in the day

I explained the problem up front so all hubby had to do was be there which is good as he gets flumoxed by most things horsey

In all honesty the vet could have attended without him being there i guess

I can work from home which is useful, or just take holiday.

After my boys surgery in march I had to take him to the vets every week for 8 weeks; I started using leave but in the end I'd work from home and drop him off first thing and pick him up last thing and get a whole days work done in between! Luckily my boss is great but is dotty over his pet chickens so I guess that helps lol!!
