A lady on Bridleways.co.uk gave me the tip a few years ago, so not my own invention

First fit the bridle bit ect to your horse as usual.

Then get the tights in hand and proceed as follows-

1. tie the legs in a knot at the crutch.
2. cut off the legs near the knot, but leaving the knot on the tights for now, put the legs to one side for later.
3.make two small holes, one opposite each other just below the waste band,
4.fit the tights over horses muzzle with the waste band just below the bridles noseband at the front, and just below the chinstrap underneath.
5. thread one of the legs through the whole made earlier in the tights and round the noseband, tie off and cut off surplus, do the same at the chinstrap, this will hold the tights on front and back.
6.disconnect the rein on one side from the bit, make a slit small as possible in the tights and slide over the D or O ring of the bit, refit the rein, repeat for other side.
7.make sure tights are straight and sqaure to the face and lined up with the bridle eqeua distance ect, then carefully cut the knot off, this should leave it so the nostrils are covered nicely but the horse can still eat or drink if on long hacks, also stops saliva collecting in the end and pulling the tights down.

CHECK REINS ARE CORRECTLY ATTACHED WHEN FINISHED

This all only takes me 5 minutes or less but is soooo worth it.

ignore the green twig lol, this was after a 2.5hour hack at Robin Hoods bay, the tights have slid down at the bit a little, but are still covering his nostrils as you can see.
