No. And she's 24 in spring too. However our forage is more than ample, the chaff is purely because she expects bucket feed. So gets half a scoop of hifi lite. Ditto daughters pony who has a spoonful of chaff in a bucket. Just have salt licks.
Yup lucerne and a supplement which balances the diet 100% with the addition of iodised salt. Keeps my standarbred happy /shiny and round right thru winter along with hay.
Nope. Pony gets a handful of D&H Safe & Sound, access to a salt lick, grass in the field and adlib hay at night. He's full of beans, spot on weight-wise, glossy coat, great feet so doesn't appear to need it
No, she has hi fi lite with a handful of linseed meal for a bit extra and trying magnesium at the mo, she is out on loads of grass plus hedgerow which she loves rootling in so I don't think she needs a supplement, but may try one in the summer when she will just have a teeny amount of chaff, if anything!
21yo has 2 scoops of cheap whatever brand chaff, just so he can take his danilon. I put equiflex, devils claw and sunflower oil in it he's fat round and glossy at the moment!
I used to use chaff as a carrier for a broad based vitamin supplement. Then I found fast fibre so use that now.
The only reason my mare gets anything at all is to get a vitamin supplement down her as she is on restricted grazing all year round.
when she was on chaff only she was on spillers conditioning chaff which is fortified - she got a top up though of half rations of spillers balancer as was only on half recommended amounts of chaff
