I saw one of these being used on a young GSD bitch. It may have interrupted the behaviour but it certainly wasn't teaching the dog anything. Even on a low setting the release you need for training is not precise enough.IMO

Me too .
We used to have a freedom fence and frequently tested the collars on myself it was unpleasant nothing more .
I have no experiance of using them for training I don't even know if the collars are giving the same type of shock .
My experiance of the freedom fence was very good the dogs ( labs so very easy to train ) learnt in one afternoon after that and one bleep was enough to keep them were they were supposed to be.
 
Ha yes it does go on a bit, and because I am also on limited download I whizzed along in the video until there was some action. It looks pretty uncomfortable on the lower level through to very painful on the higher level. I have seen collars used on three dogs in the past (all for sheep worrying problems) and it made pretty unpleasant viewing and it is not something I would ever use in dog training of any kind.
