For those who like a good pony hunt

Yeah I mean I can get why they feel they have to ask for it & why they’ve changed mind & if there was no time pressure I wouldn’t be bothered (heck I waited for the Highland to have 2 flu vaccs before travel cos that’s what yard at the time wanted as he was coming on a mixed load due to location, distance & seller preference for which transporter he’d let on his yard) but right now it’s just another thing to add to the stress.

Well the little guy has passed his vetting today so I have decided you’re allowed a photo (just one mind!)

Please can you all send good “ I am not secretly harbouring strangles & my bloods are good” vibes? (If we need to do a guttural pouch wash I might have an actual nervous breakdown)

Please excuse the slightly weird stance caused by trying to get horse to stand still that was now bored & fidgety (I promise he can stand like a normal horse!)

He's gorgeous! Is he the 3 year old from the Preloved advert? Everything crossed for the strangles test so you can get him home quickly 😍
Yes he is, thought someone might recognise him. He’s about 14.1ish atm (need to actually get a stick on him at some point) but bum high. Hoping for about 15 hands when he stops growing 🤞🤞 (as long as he levels out and goes a bit wider then I’m not bothered if he doesn’t quite get there)

Strangles results are good so picking him up at weekend.

He’s only been in a trailer before so not sure what he’ll make of my box so that bit may be entertaining

Well he’s here in one piece which is more than can be said for my poor box… he spent a considerable amount of time seeing how many bits of it he could paw at / boot every time speed dropped below about 40, which it survived perfectly well having been purchased with 600kg of Highland thug in mind. He then launched himself off near the top of the not very big ramp and managed to shred the rubber as he took off (think it was on the verge of needing new rubber anyway as didn’t get it done when we replaced the floor a few years ago). Oh well I guess it’s due a once over by the lorry guy anyway 🙈 (he can fix the loose partition holding back clip whilst he’s at it)

He then set about having a lovely time eating all the grass growing around the edge of the track… until the electric fence got turned back on! (was turned off to create his isolation strip)

He’s now gone slightly feral and refusing to speak to anyone unless the complaints department apologises for the bitey fence. He would also like an explanation of what a hay box is, why the matts go squish when he stands on them, why the haynet holes are so small, why there is a hosepipe attached to the water trough (he thinks it’s actually a snake in disguise) and who all those other weird horses ogling him from across the hay field are?

Apparently the ghost of the Fuzzy Thug is hanging around and has whispered in his ear how to use your mane as a fence barrier… (twice 😬)

Bit of fence in question has been altered by YO so pony can no longer shove any part of himself under it.

This is why baby ponies are cute isn’t it?! 🙈 (So you don’t want to kill them as much when they test things out?)

And he is very very cute luckily!

Awww he's lovely

Thick manes are fantastic for fence destroying - my little cob with a lot of fell in her knows exactly how to use her insulated neck for evil!

Well he’s managed to stay put overnight (thank god!) and has finally decided he ought to figure out the haynets now all accessible scraps of grass have mostly been eaten.

His approval has been given to his designated menu option of a sprinkling of meadow nuts & chaff with a hint of linseed. Now to start sloooowly introducing a mineral balancer.

Has also tried to eat the bedding stuck to his poo in the wheelbarrow, tried to steal the poo rake (& spooked at it when it moved… as things tend to do if you put them in your mouth), shouted his undying love to the other horses a few times and been only mildly suspicious about having fly cream applied.

Just caught up on this - congratulations! He looks lovely. I hope you have some well-deserved luck in the form of a straightforward and sound pony!
