I went with the black, and looked very smart, if I do say so myself :p (though surely it's not that long since I did BE Int dressage and last wore the black coat, so I don't understand why it was a bit on the tight side :o).

Fugs' bloods didn't come back too bad, I hadn't sat on him since Beckwithshaw but he looked like he was feeling all right and the dressage championships were in our village about quarter of a mile from the yard so I figured there was no travelling involved and I could easily take him home if I wasn't happy. We also had to go as there was a photographer coming from a newspaper who're doing an article on me!

So we strutted our stuff for the paps, did a reasonable Prelim 18 and hacked home. I popped back in an hour later to be greeted by lots of people saying 'wow, you did really well'. I'll never get sick of hearing that one! :D We were leading by a mile with 70.45% :D. Managed to stay there for almost the whole class until someone pipped us with 71% and someone joined me on my score, though luckily my collectives were better so we ended up 2nd! :D:D

No time to relax as I had to shoot back to the yard on my bike, re-tack and trot back for the mounted prize-giving.

As he'd felt fine in the prelim I thought we'd risk the Novice 38 as we'd qualified for that too. Again a reasonable test, again took Fugs home then back on my bike to check the scores - 62.95%. A bit disappointing until I reaslised that I was lying 2nd again. An anxious wait but still ended up in 4th (the winner produced an immaculate test for 65%) so back on the bike, shot back to the yard and tacked up a rather sleepy and surprised Fugly for the 3rd time to go and get his prize. At the prize-giving the judge said 'I think this one will go all the way'! :D:D (I didn't ask her where ;))

So, it was only unaffiliated dressage but all the horses there had had to qualify, it was open so there were a lot of BD combos there too, it was a list-something-or-another-judge who is alleged to know her stuff (when I heard who was judging I nearly went home without competing!). And the horse who tied with us for 2nd place has been to the Nationals at AdvMed.... (though admittedly he is showing a less experienced rider the ropes now!).

One very happy Gamebird who acknowledges that she has just written a dressage report and sounded excited about it  :D and just might consider this Eventer's BD winter thingy. Maybe. Possibly.... ;)

Fugs is off now until Hutton and has the physio coming in the morning just in case. He'll either love it or eat her....

To be fair DHB we only just scraped the 70% barrier. However any score starting with a 7 is OK for me!

He is rather clever, isn't he?

what a fab horse, bless him, tacked up 3 times....LOL! Nice results though well done!

I'm sure early on this season you were worrying about just keeping him cantering in a stressage arena (Osberton!) ....

Are you Pre-novice or moving on up?!!! ;-)

SW I still regularly worry about keeping him cantering in a dressage arena! ;) And the tacking up 3 times thing was a right pain as he's suddenly decided that you can't touch his ears any more and at 17.1 that argument only has one winner

Staying at PN, though I'd love to pop round a Nov this season :(. He's going to BD/BS this winter after his break then go out at Nov when I think we can win one, not just get round one (bear in mind that I've never won a BE event in my life ;)). He's going to be late maturing and there's just no need for him to do novice yet, though I think he's find it easy.

Well done, and extra congrats on making a dressage report entertaining ;)

Have you thought about getting him massaged? I have a lady who comes to massage my girlie every so often and it does her good plus she enjoys it :)

Wow is this the same GB who has laughed at me on more than one occasion about my enthusiasm for poncing between white boards? :) ;)

Fugs is turning into an all round star isn't he? What a good boy :) :) :)

Can't wait for the BD reports :) :)

Gamebird where are the pictures!!!!!!!!! I want to SEE this dressage diva, tweed shunning combo in action, If I were the judge I would have deducted marks for your lack of paparazzi very disappointed not even to get an action shot of you on your bike! ;)

Well done, Fugs IS going to go all the way he is a star. :)

'Fugs eats physio' - what a headline that would be! Well done on the results you dressage diva you :)

As it turned out he didn't eat her and rather enjoyed it I think. She said he was sore in his left poll and that, not his ears, was the bridling problem. He also had one or two sore bits around his lumbar area so she's treated them all. Whether that was the problem, or his bloods were, or something else entirely, who knows? But at least I feel as though I've done all I can to check him out now.

AR - umm, yes, laugh all you like. Though I suspect what I really liked about it was the rosettes and general rosy glow of success rather than the trotting-about-between-the-boards bit. Maybe we could have a competition this winter for the most entertaining BD report?

SW66 - hmmm, a bit of cash, but not enough to pay the physio with today . Lovely big rosettes and, had I won, the trophy is enormous and stunning. However it's currently sitting on someone else's mantelpiece  ........

Chloe - the thing is I had a proper official long-lens paparazzo there (and had to do thousands of 'leading him through a gateway' and 'holding him whilst looking into his eyes meaningfully (Fugs, not the photographer!!!!!)' shots as well as the pictures from the test so I decided that my personal paps were unneccessary - and they were also at work . I'll do you a link to the article when/if the ever get it in print......
