Took Kia back to the vets this morning, the last couple of times she has been the vet has had to cut away quite a lot of tissue that was sticking out of the wound. I thought it looked much better on Monday when I changed the dressing but didn't want to get my hopes up too much.
Anyway she had a good look at it and has decided to see how it copes being left open. It is still a nasty looking hole but lots of nice pink tissue forming so fingers crossed. She said she may have to have her back in to cut some more away if it starts bulging, but hopefully that wont happen.
So she has given me the go ahead to start lunging her, which means I can then finally get back on her and finish my task of breaking her in (my vet did suggest I got on and walked her a few weeks ago, but I didn't fancy it considering we hadn't got past the lunging before riding phase and she had had 5 weeks box rest
) I am not sure when I am going to fit riding her in now mind, need a few more hours in the day!
So all in all very good news, hopefully things will start to look up from now on for her, thanks to everyone who send her vibes, really meant a lot
