Hi all,
at school i have to do a project about forces used while during your favourite sport. i wondered if anyone could help me with forces and motion during walk, trot, canter, gallop and perhaps over a jump as well...
TIA xxx

You'll probably have momentum, centrifugal & resultant......I think, there's probably others but it's been many years since I was at school. ;)

I saw an article once which explained the biomechanics of each part of the horse as an engineer would - ie the pulley effect of tendons on the load (weight of limb), the fulcrum effect of the breakover point in the horses action, the downward weight of the head and neck stretching down being balanced by the power and upward push of the hindlegs stepping under, this kind of thing.
But the most important force? Gravity which makes you hit the ground when you fall off!!
