Has anyone got one?
What are they like on fuel?
Drive well?
Tow okay? (Well this is not as important as sister just brought lorry:D)

Thankies

I had one that I bought new 4 years ago and kept til last year. It was ok on fuel. Accelerated well but definitely drove like a pickup. Ie more like a farm vehicle.

They have since brought out a new model which I know nothing about so it will depend if you are getting a new one or 2nd hand.

I've now got a vw amarok which is lovely, so much more car-like to drive.

Post 2006 TDCI are good ,I had one they tow well, 3000kg
about 30 mpg, they drive ok about average for a small pick up, I dont think you would go far wrong with one and they are good value . not sure about the very latest 2012 on ones but they look great..

We ve had a 2007 and now have a 2010.
As others have said they tow well, plenty of guts and about 30mpg.
The new ones do look swanky the 2.2 engine is readily available but the 2.9 has a waiting list ... we are hoping to get the 2.9 next year.
Both vehicles have been reliable ..absolutely no trouble with either...although the ford dealerships are a rip off. We ve allways bought the parts from ford but used a local garage for servicing.
If buying second hand look for a vat paid one if you can with a good service history heres our little baby!

When I was working in Oman we ran a small fleet of them in the desert. They where terrible compared with the Hilux we had lots of serious problems with wheel alignment and tracking. There was always one or two Rangers in for repairs. Which wasn't too bad as the leasing company gave us Hilux for courtesy vehicles which were much better.

I have to add they were used off road (graded roads). They are nowhere near as robust/reliable as Toyota's.

We've got the new one. 12 plate. It's a 3.2 diesel.

Cab is very comfortable, although my girls (teens) say the back seat is not all that comfortable for a long journey.

It tows fab, goes anywhere. My OH follows the hunt in his and never has any trouble off road, never any trouble. Nor muddy fields with the trailer on either.

He gets about 29mpg. He does quite a lot of A road and Mway driving for work in it.

Def recommend it. We have a hard top on the back so we can put the dog in there, and on hunt days all the muddy tack gets chucked in with haynets etc, super spacey.

Luckyoldme - my OH says there isn't a 2.9 version, so you might want to check that out.

Son had a 2009 XLT manual and now has a 2012 Limited automatic with extra toys on it. Both have driven well and he puts a huge mileage on them. The new one is much more spacious and is a bigger vehicle overall, on a long drive he gets 33mpg, short journeys 28+ mpg which is similar to the old one. Both have towed well on the few occasions we have towed (Ifor 510 with one horse). His insurance dropped significantly with the new one due to the 2.2l engine but it certainly doesn't feel under powered. He had a couple issues with the old one; some rust due to the canopy being badly fitted initially and then a gear box spring caused it to jump out of 5th gear, however both were sorted under the warranty without any problem.

We have a 2011 Hilux but only do a small mileage in comparison to our son so it's hard to compare. I feel the Hilux has a more "workhorse" like feel to it in some ways but is still comfortable and performance is similar to the Rangers.

We would get second hand and it will be for dads work car. Ie traveling to and from work and storing all his work gear.
Will have a look around.
