Anyone tow with a Ford Ranger? I am looking to replace my X reg SWB Shogun, and am test driving a Ranger at the weekend.

I'm looking at one of the 2.2 engines, with the axle ratio to enable 3.5 tonnes towing.

yes I use my dads 14 plate ranger to tow, love it!! you literally don't know that there is a trailer attached to it! drives much smoother with a box than its does without one!

We've just traded our Hilux in for a Ranger and really like it, we went for the Limited 3.2 automatic as I'm now disabled and my left leg is affected. I've towed with it a couple of times and it's great. I was surprised the reversing camera and sat nav weren't standard considering all the other bells and whistles it has, seemingly you can now link your smart phone to the car screen and use your phone's sat nav however we decided on a built in sat nav. Our son has 15 plate 2.2 manual and it's obviously much better on fuel and also tows very well. They're definely as comfortable as a car IMO.

I love mine. Got it new in 04. 200,000 miles on clock now. Surprisingly economical. A full 80litre tank will do 400 miles long distance, 330 miles if doing short journeys. When it does I will be getting another!

I bought mine last year and love it to tow trailer - the camera at the back is fab. In 2 wheel drive I find its back end can slew around corners but if I feel the roads are slippery I stick it in 4 wheel drive mode. It is expensive to run and of course needs AD Blue additives but I like being high up and able to see over hedges and the seats are comfy and it eats up the miles on a motorway comfortably. I put a cabin on the back rather than a roller cover or leaving it open as I keep most of the horse gear in there most of the time.

I both love and hate mine! It's 12 months old. Had it from new 3.2 wild track. Goes brilliantly, it's an auto and I get about 30mpg.however from new it's had a few niggles, it frequently doesn't start, but will if I wait a few minutes and then try again. It also intermittently stalls when I'm at lights or in traffic. If it does the two together Im stuck in traffic waiting until I can start it. Yesterday that was on the A41 at 9am! When I take it in I get told there's no fault and nothing comes up on the diagnostics. Love the car but Ford are no help Ali doubt I'd get another (not that I think any other company are any good with issues either)

Yup, I have a brand new auto Ranger and it's fab to tow with, not the biggest fan of the technology though, sat navy is fiddly and it's not that pretty inside. But it does the job well.

I have one which I bought to tow with. I got it new and it's 3 years old now. Love it! I got a 2.2 limited automatic and it's great to tow with. Never struggles, even with 2 big 17hh horses in the back. I've had no problems at all with it.
