Forecast has changed...no rain! 😩

Rain here too - then one of the young ones proceeded to forget that rain = slippery and has fallen and hurt herself 🙄. I have just watched little ‘2nd in command’ assess the damage like a human would do, walk up to the lead mare, inform her the small one was actually hurt, then lead mare walked over to have a chat. Now we have a happier ouchy small person having a lie down as advised by her herd mates while she is watched over by a friend. Will check on her again later but there’s no blood or swelling on her leg, hooves seem ok and she’s being looked after. Horses!!

We had some last night. Was expecting a really wet weekend, but only showers on Sunday now.

Am getting really worried about the rest of the summer and as for the hay/haylage situation that almost doesn't bear thinking about 😢

Torrential thunderstorms washed away the sides of one of our hacking paths yesterday - looks like something out of a geography text book this morning! On a plus point my small young pony looks fine now so the herd did a good job keeping her quiet until she felt better.

Hopefully more rain next week!

Well it rained steadily for an hour and now the sun is out, hopefully will get the grass growing but I'll be watching the ponies like a hawk.

Neighbour cut one of his silage fields yesterday, think he has one more to do.

We had a drizzle this morning, the most we've had in 10 weeks but of course makes no difference at all. I haven't done any canter work outside of the arena yet this year and sad to be missing all my favourite events (amazed they are getting entries though - how is everyone getting their horses fit enough with ground like this?!). The hay shortage is a huge concern too 😟
