well after a further 2 weeks box rest decieded that I'd take mins for a small walk this am to start the repair and build her muscles up - she really has none...she is still lame very short striding but she gets better once she's out for a walk, so...in headcoller we proceeded up the lane...ha ha well honestly anyone would think she's a race pony she was throwing her head around trying to loft her front feet off the ground, trotting on spot you really wouldnt think she has a injury looking at her so trying to make her walk is very hard, she had another kinda paddy...as i walked past walker to let her see it she's never seen one before...she yet again deceided that she wanted to trot throw her head all over the place again...whilst I'm trying to hold her back and make her walk for her own good and laughing - i find her funny..i know i shouldnt really laugh at her...but seriously for a 23yro mare with an injury behaving like a youngster is funny..and whilst i'm pleased she has the spark still in her head, her body says otherwise or she'll never recvover fully and will never be used again - she loves her work too so she's increasingly frustrated!
What on earth do i do to try and control this little 13.1hh 23yro mare that thinks she's a youngster...she wont respect the bridle on either - she's even hard to pull up in that when i'm top...she really is a little terror...no actually i'd say full of charachter.

Any ideas very welcome....sorry its been a bit long...
Wispa bar for those that got this far.

Ha ha, glad to hear she still has a spark at that age, mine is 20 and she behaves like a youngster sometimes too!

I agree with laughing at her, it is funny when they do that, and laughing keeps you from tensing up and making them worse.

Sorry I can't suggest anything, but I enjoyed your post.

not pressure halter but did have to put rope round her nose - made things worse...i used a chain on my boy when he got a bit strong at times and he respected this but really dont think she's the type to listen to this...i tried releasing the pressure but she just tries to trot off....honestly there is no stopping her but i have to for her own good...god knows what she's going to be like when I do get back on top think i'll be in for some real fun times...LOL

Have you thought about circling her when she gets strong .i use to do this with a cob and he soon got bored and started to behave. Not sure if it will be any help.

Maybe a touch of sedation till the initial hijinks are out of her system.

(Depends on the injury, is jumping around bad for it)???.

yeah she sustained a ruptured muscle on her forearm and now all her muscles have been wasted so need to build her back up slowly...but will she listen...huh..dont think so i'm glad she still has the spark to her but wish she would listen to me bless her for her own sake.
