Forgotten what it's like to ride in the rain

After months of dry, warm and often sunny weather, we had our first ride in the rain today. It was only misty rain when we left, so I wore a waterproof jacket instead of my long wax stockman's coat. WRONG!

I had forgotten just how wet you can get in a couple of hours hacking in the rain

At least you had a waterproof topcoat on! I find that if I wesr all my waterproof gear I'm roasting, so tend to take a chance instead - one bonus of forgetting my riding hat today was being able to put my hood up!

I've had some of my best rides in the rain

. I guess it's because I didn't expect anything, other than soggy misery, so rain apart, when the rides were good, it was all a bonus

Yes I agree Mrs M, we had a nice ride and I really don't mind the rain, I had just forgotten how soggy I can get, especially when I had to feed the dobbins, move the electric fence and put them back in their enclosure after riding (no chafing thank goodness).

Silly thing is, I have a full set of water proofs and at least one stockman's coat (probably two) in the car but usually when I wear them, the sun comes out and I boil.

Still, nice hot bath when I got home and the weather is supposed to be dry again this week
