Sad tale of a for championship winning Welsh Stallion found wandering in the grounds of a care home, rescued and doing well again.

Why can't people look after their oldies?

Absolutely heart-breaking.

Just why? Unfortunately, our throw-away society seems to have been extended to include animals too.

At least the poor lad is being looked after and is on the road to recovery.

Poor old boy, how dreadfully sad that he's been allowed to get into that state

It shouldn't matter whether or not he's won loads, all horses derserve to be looked after properly

Poor horse it's disgusting how people let horses get like that ?

Similar thing happened to a top show Arab stallion he was sold to France and the stud went bust and he ended up nearly going for meat, his old owner back in England managed to track him down and got him back here he was in a terrible state.

sadly a not uncommon fate for older stallions (and seems esp bad amongst welshies)

overweight and over shown 2-6yo.........baby machine until the stud has too many related mares, then chucked out like garbage if tool old to sell......seen it SO many times on the welsh pages on FB

Totally heartbreaking for any horse to end up in this situation.

But how does a champion pony end up like this?

from what I've heard through the Welsh pony grapevine. I believe it wasn't the owners who neglected him but rather the people who were meant to be caring for him. I don't want to assume but it sounds like there was some kind of loan arrangement in place. Guess the owners were not able (or didn't) to go and check on him regularly. could be due to old age/ill health etc. I don't know the whole story. From a post the charity put up it sounds like the owner has now signed him over to them.

Well let’s hope the owners put their hands in their pockets to give him some financial support!
