Does anyone use this as a balancer? Coblet is kept at livery on a dairy farm, grass is very lush (And very restricted!), but upon analysis is excellent for dairy cows, horses... not so much. I had been giving Honeychop light and healthy (just enough for a powder to stick to, a bag has lasted forever!) with supplement powders, but upon reflection, I was a very over excited new owner and got sucked in by all the promises of these products, and now I've realised i have just made a complicated ritual for myself to keep her diet balanced. I just want to give her something to make sure she's getting all she needs, but without extra calories, as we are steadily slimming down from her coming to me obese, and I'd like to keep it that way! Any other suggestions gratefully received.

I give it to Robin for his feet. It works wonders and he will stay on it. Prior to that he was on topspec but I stopped that as no point giving both. But I don’t feed it as specifically a balancer.

equimins adv. complete pellets would be a better option (they will likely send you a sample to check palatability), or forageplus pellets.

I used this when mine was growing essentially brand new hooves from top to bottom after having rotational laminitis. I liked it for its vitamins and minerals, I'm not sure I'd use it as a balancer though. I'd be super super careful liverying on a dairy farm though, that's what tipped mine over the edge, and it hadn't been used as a dairy farm for 20+ years.

Thanks for your replies there guys, some food for thought. I'll just finish the bag I have and look into a possible alternative. I am concerned about the dairy cow grass being what makes her into a laminitic, she has never had it, but due to being a good doer native, who needs to lose weight, I'm treating her as such. Luckily have my own paddock which I can do what I will with, so a lot of the grass I have removed and she has limited access to what's left.
