I have been using Formula4feet and prior to this Farriers Formula ~ I use it as a supplement for mini's, I have been using it for years
Is this considered a good overall product? They are fed small amounts of Simple Systems which seems to suit them but I was just wondering about the supplement.

Formula for feet is brilliant. Long story I now us Topspec balancer which has everything in with their fibre plus cubes

F4F and FF are essentially the same I think? I have fed it in the past but think there are better alternatives now

I fed Formula4Feet to a young metabolically compromised youngish horse I had and I thought it was excellent, he literally just had that, out of my hand, no hard feed.
His coat went much blacker and he stopped having random abscess'

Thank you for the replies, what would you consider better?

I agree with the feeding by hand for F4F mine would never eat FF by hand in spring/summer, then I read something about GM in FF so switched to F4F and they were happy to eat it
My old (now deceased) farrier of over 30yrs just thought I was mad buying it
A vet arrived one day, saw the bag and said don't feed nuts to the mini's?!
Another vet visiting said excellent product

I live in a world of confusion

What would you recommend please.

Progressive Earth, Forage Plus or Equivita are the best ones. They all do slightly different variations so you can pick the one that suits you best and they all have very good customer service and will be happy to talk to you about their products. Progressive Earth send chocolate bars in the package so I use them as I am easily bought

I had my mare on F4F for a couple of years. Her feet were quite poor and I think it did help but the biggest difference I saw was when I switched her off of that on to just plain old NAF Biotin Plus. I guess with hoof supplements it really is a case of "horses for courses"

I love F4F my vet could not believe the x-rays of a laminitis mare after I tried it for the first time. It made a huge difference, I use it for other horses too from time to time.

I used to use F4F pretty religiously with one of mine until a vet said to try just alf alfa pellets instead and cut down the selenium in the diet. We notice the difference if the selenium levels rise or we withdraw the alf alfa so it does seem to have an effect. He does have Biotin in his normal feed otherwise I would add this too.

When Jay went barefoot we went onto Progressive Earth, but then he became fat with having less work, so I wanted to cut out any hard feed. I went for F4F because I could just feed a handful as a hand treat, and it worked.
