Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has tried the 'Forward facing stirrup iron' style, as in the new Robinsons catalogue. I was just about to buy some new irons and was wondering if these are beneficial. Look a little weird to me, but when one needs all the help one can get......!

I tried them, but I didn't like them as it gave me an unsecure lower leg. However I also don't like the flexible / shock absorbing ones either (even Sprenger or metalab) so I have gone back to my Australian bent leg irons.

It's possible I am a little eccentric!

I have ridden in the heather moffett stirrupps (go to enlightened equitation website to see them) which have a very wide base and face forward and are fantastic. There is no tension to make your toes stick out and my lower leg also felt a lot more secure.

As for the shock absorbing stirrupps i also love them too.
