Would anyone be willing to look at pictures of my mare? She has a short back, forward girth groove, decent wither and has only been back in ridden work due to an accident (Feb last year) since December. Struggling with girth options so an experience with girthing with the issues explained would be a huge bonus. Thank you, let me know and I will PM you.

We have 2. Both big barrelled and bum high.
One has had an ideal affinity f2 for about 10 years
The other doesn’t get on with leather, beatbox options for him were either Harry dabbs waffle or prochoice ventech. Didn’t get on with a prolite and he pulled it forwards and it gaped at the sides

So often it's actually the saddle that's the issue, no matter how well it seems to tick all the boxes. I fit very wide short backed horses and for the first 7 years I was doing the job I can't remember an occasion where I needed to recommend an anatomical girth in order to keep a saddle back. For a budget option I do like the Harry Dabbs one, but it's much more about it just being a good girth, elbow shaping etc, than the curve.

Thank you so much for your replies, I should add that it is a short girth I am looking at. So far I have tried a plain, straight neoprene Stubben girth and a Fairfax, I have a Harry Dabbs curved girth to try next. Sbloom could you confirm the fitting of the Harry Dabbs for me? I think it should curve away from the elbows but a google search has confused me . I obviously don't want to keep buying girths, luckily so far I have either had them in the tack room or have bought second hand. Saddle has been checked by 2 fitters (numerous times), the last one in Janruary and is due a refit in April. On my list are the Ideal F2 and the Mattes Assymetric crescent.

Oh and the PC vantech. Tried the Harry Dabbs tonight, awful with the curve going forwards towards the front and the hoop for attachments at the front (assume it should be?) gaping and dragging the girth straps forwards. So much better curving backward, more elbow relief and even pressure along the girth and girth straps straighter. A little confused. I can PM pictures. Thanks again for your help.

yup sounds like you have HD on right, same as the fairfax essentially. I wonder if the girth straps are helping or not - most of mine is definitely long girth experience.

What about a Heather moffett banana girth? My other suggestion would have been the Harry dabbs but you've already tried it

Sbloom if I get some pictures over the weekend would you be happy to look at them please. The Harry Dabbs was blooming awful unfortunately but strangely looked pretty good on back to front! Thinking the curve has to actually go backwards for it to sit straight and give elbow clearance I have purchased the Chtrist moon girth, I will report back when it arrives.
