Forward/Rear facing horseboxes?

Currently on the look out for a new box, and mum has decided that she really dislikes herringbone... with a beaty horse its not particularly easy! We previously had an (old!) rear facing horesebox for two horses, but cannot find any new-ish (1995 onwards) that are 7.5 tonne.

Thought HHO would be a brilliant place to look, as all of you are so very helpful Does anyone know of specialist horsebox builders that make these? Google-ing just comes up with 3.5 tonne vans!

argh how annoying, someone who came to use the indoor today had one which was an '05 plate but cant for the life of me remember who it was made by!!! :/ i will get thinking and let you know if i remember.

I have a rear facing 7.5 tonne. I had to swop from a herringbone and was lucky enough to see it just advertised in the horse and hound.

Before I saw that I did make enquiries with Dale Smart (Smart horseboxes he built Mary Kings rear facing) who was happy to build one, but not cheap......

There wont be many made nowadays because of the fact you need a side ramp and the springing for the ramp is difficult on a 7.5 tonne chassis.

Give me 5 mins and I'll get you the name of who did the lorry that the yard I'm involved in uses (which is front facing and relatively new)

you see more front/rear facing lorries on big chassis in racing, so they are about, and do come up for sale, try googling racing lorry/box rather than front/rear facing, and you may have more luck, you do get alot less living generally though

lol we just sold a forward facing 7.5 lorry and it had the best ramp ever - you can lift it with one finger!

Horses are suppost to travel best facing to the rear apparantly; their heart rates are lowest (ie calmest) when doing so. However some horses have then tried to jump out (moreso in trailers) through the back jockey door, not nice.
