i am devastated that today we had to have 12 day old Caspar put to sleep - leaving his poor mum Phantom without her baby boy who she was so proud of.

She has loads of milk and is a great mum - so if anyone knows of an orphan foal looking for a new mum that can travel to the devon area please (sorry she's got to stay here as we will be AI'ing her soon) please contact me

thats so sad.

I hope she can help an orphan foal xx

I am so sorry to hear your news. Breding foals can be soul destroying at times. We have lost a few over the years and it is heartbreaking.

I had a foster foal in for a mare once and she looked after him and feed him but seemed to know full well it wasn't hers. To be honest I wouldn't do it again becouse it ended up costing us a lot of money when the foal owner refused to pay any of the vet or livery bills she had agreeded to.

It wa 30 years ago but I have never forgotten the bad taste it left.

Oh Rollestone what awful news. Poor Phantom, Caspar was such a lovely baby. Life is cruel sometimes. Good luck with finding her another baby to look after.
