Fouganza paddock leather saddle - experiences?

I have no experience of them but I suspect you'd be better off going for something like a second hand Wintec...

have to agree, much as I dislike Wintecs there are loads about so you should be able to try one to see if it will fit the horse OK - at least you can sell it on again afterwards and get your money back.

it looks ok - the key with any saddle is that it will fit the horse (and you obviously), dont reply on using a thick saddle pad to get you by as you could cause lasting damage.

Cant see why the paddock saddle wouldnt be ok? as long as it fit! as you said its only for a few months - so least it might have a good resale value.

How on earth did you break the tree!?

He decided that it would be wonderful to throw his saddle on the floor and stand on it. All because I went to retrieve some brushing boots! But I'll look into wintec as well - perhaps also see if they trial the paddock saddle.

Thanks for the help!

It comes with 3 gullet bars so the fit would be critical, not that much fine tuning available.
And I'd be less optimistic about resale value - I know lots of the fouganza stuff is decent quality but they don't have a 'name' in the second hand saddle market so I would expect to take quite a loss on it if the OP wanted to sell it on.

the only thing leather I would buy of the Fouganza range are the girths, which are really quite nice. The bridles and saddles are absolutely awful. The saddles are made of cardboard leather; the stitching is horrendous, and the pockets into which the gullets fit are really poor. :/

I wouldn't buy one they look cheap and nasty, if you have a £300 budget I would look for a second hand good make of saddle you may even get a fairly decent leather one for that money, I bought a really nice gfs leather dressage saddle a few years back for just under £300 and it was such a lovely saddle and fitted both of my horses I ended up selling it for a profit, there are bargains to be had especially if you know what's your looking for,

sorry about your horse standing on your current saddle I think I would have cried :(

What? Oz is just telling you why it is cheap he didn't need to go into lengthy descriptions as it is pretty common knowledge that both the leather and the quality of the other parts and manufacturing process in India will not lead to a well balanced saddle or is this news to you?
It's not just the leather I expect oz could write a book about it but this is a forum not a publishers.
I think suggesting that Oz is a racist because in his experience Indian made saddlery is not good enough quality to be putting on your horse is a bit of an extrapolation!

Another word: RACIST, did you mean to be?

Now, if you had remarked on the way the leather used is made and why you disapprove of it, then that would have been interesting and informative.

Oh dear, if this is racist then I'm a Christmas wreath. We all know Oz is a saddler who obviously has a wealth of experience. Pointing out that the saddle is most likely to be made of cheap Indian leather is hardly a racist comment :D you should hear what all the old dears with horses in this area call crappy Indian saddles :D
