Hi Guys, Just wanted to share my news after i came here looking for some advice etc.

Found a 15.3 Bay Gelding, Warmblood.

Girl who rode him before me had never ridden him before but the owner had just come out of hospital so couldn't ride.

He walked trotted a little buck as he went into canter and me stood there going i've just driven all this way for nothing.

Anyway I put on my brand new helmet that i'd bought the day before as I haven't ridden for so long. Lowered the stirrup and up i got!

He stood there the whole time didn't move. and then i asked him to walk and he went 3 steps and wouldn't move. finally got him to the road did a little walk and trot but i was struggling to get this boy to go.

Went back to his little schooling field and could just about get a walk.

My legs by this point are saying ouch my heads going what am i doing wrong. Of course my nerves had transfered down the reins.

I took a deep breath sat up became firmer in my questions and he walked trotted and went into the most beautiful canter to sit too so sooth!

Anyway i jumped off walked funny for a while. told the owner i was interested but needed to speak to hubby and on the drive home i was thinking how much he will teach my daugther. if she doesn't ask the right question he isn't going to work for her! if she askes the wrong question shes going to get taught to ask the correct one. I can ride him and get back into riding.

He comes home tomorrow. Bought a new horse box, and even when and traded in my car for a Jeep! That made hubby grin as he use to have a Jeep and loves Jeeps!

So today we have got the stable ready, bought food, rugs brushes and we are all set to get our new boy tomorrow.

Excited much! :D

You shouldn't buy horses to "teach" your children. It's nearly always a recipe for disaster. However, I do hope it works out well for you, your daughter and the horse.
