Found a lump on my collies leg this morn......

This morning I noticed a lump on the top part of my collies front leg, it's about half the size of a golf ball (i think), slighty hard but a bit squishy at the same time, he doesn't seem in any pain, I have noticed he has been a bit quieter the past few days, but he isn't lame or bothered when you touch it. Obviously everything is going through my head now, has anyone ever come across this? I shall try and post a photo tonight when I get back from work.

It's sods law aswell I have just renewed his insurance and can't claim for another 10 days!
 
Sounds like a fatty lump, my old bitch had one on her back for years. Pop him to the vet to be doubly sure.
You can have them removed but we just left N's on, once it was given the all clear.
 
What age is he?
N's just seemed to come out of nowhere, but then again we weren't exactly looking for it.
Fingers crossed it is something simple

sounds like a fatty lump, they can get them even if they aren't fat. It could also be a bit of grain or grass seed or tiny piece of stick that can come up in a lump. my lab had one, vet reckoned it was something that had gone in and travelled down to his side. it was a wee op to take it out.
best get vet to have a look anyway.

He's 7, I would've noticed it yestersday, it's really obvious on his white legs, unless it was smaller?? But he's always giving me his paw too

yes cysts can come up rather suddenly, but often they are really small (so un noticed especially in usually un stroked areas) and then when they do flare up everyone goes WO WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?!

Often can be treated with anti inflammatories and maybe antibiotics if vet is concerned its caused by infection.
Could also be an abscess if something is in there causing severe inflammation...... but don't generally come up rapidly, but again might have been there small they gone WOOSH!

Or maybe it coud just be swelling, is it over or near a joint?!
 
Mine came up in a lump on fore leg. Looked closer - saw a thorn tip - OH removed a 1 inch thorn from the leg! No lameness or anything, just a lump in his forearm.
