My yard where I have been for 2 1/4 years is now in the process of being sold and is under offer so I've been looking around and I have decided to go back to my previous yard.
I am excited about being back with my friends and really liked the yard I was at (for nearly 10 years) but circumstances made me move at the time.
It now feels like I am coming home. Walking around there last night, I felt comfortable, I know practically every inch of the place! The Y/O was lovely to me and my partner and its great to see my old friends (both horses and humans).
So I gave my notice to my old yard last night and intend staying for a month unless the horses are brought in early from the fields for the winter in which case I will move sooner as its hard to re-introduce my horse to grass as he is so colic prone. The paddocks at the new yard are a nice size and are mains electric and I have the option of using strip grazing if I want which I will do to re-introduce him back to their grass again (ex dairy farm so grass quite rich). He will be going out everyday here, although it will probably be my choice to have him out until lunch time only in the winter to try and save the ground. I have be allotted a lovely stable and can put my rubber matting down in my stable which will be a huge relief as I have a bit of a hole in my natural floor and Bailey seems to always be standing in it! Plus the fact the rubber matting has been sitting in our side alley of our house as I had no where to store it, and smells like the seaside now, I think Mum and Dad will be glad to be shot of it!!
Its such a hassle moving yards with all the work, worry and stress it brings and will miss my friends and hacking at the old yard but I am sad and happy at the same time if that makes sense.
The yard owner at the current yard has been great, really looked after my horse for me its just unfortunate she is selling the yard. I also think its better to make the break now than stay to see what the purchaser wants to do with the liveries, because there could be nine of us looking for slim pickings all at the same time, and that would be a total nightmare having been in that situation before.
