just been brought to me, a nice couple found him and have driven around for hours trying to find where he lives, bless them! he's shut in a stable, i can't get hold of the Dog Warden, i can't remember my DogLost password and it's taking forever to send me a new one... argh. pass the word around pls.
he's wearing a collar but no tag, double aaarrgggghhh.

Nice thought, but if the dog was near home in a rural area, he probably would have seen himself home. Its usually better to follow the dog quietly than take it away, as they'll often lead you to their house where the 'finder' can have a word with the owner.

yes, thanks for that. as i said, the couple spent a few hours driving around trying to find who owned him. i didn't abduct him ffs.
i might add that i'm 1/2 a mile from the A17, a major trunk road. i'd rather they hadn't left the poor little guy running around the roads with the obvious risk of causing an accident and getting badly hurt or killed. :( :( :(

and to set your mind at rest, i've already contacted the police and the dog warden. i have no desire to keep this dog for a second longer than necessary.

No need to set my mind at rest, its ok. Your drama, not mine.

I hope he is chipped so he can get home as soon as possible:)

Round here I end up picking up straying labradors:rolleyes: - get them all home safely in the end:D better he is safe with you - have you also tried any vets nearby?:confused; the last lab I 'rescued' had been reported missing to them - I took him in to see if they could scan him for a chip before the dog warden was involved - and he was home in half an hour with a pigs ear:D

It sounds as if the couple who found him did their best to find his home. If god forbid mine very got out I would far rather someone picked them up than left them to take their chance on the busy road.
Hope you are able to track his owners down quickly.

Oooh, I would so love a border terrier. However, the stray dog I found about 4 weeks ago now with no tag on collar or chip (I nipped along to vets with him) was reclaimed before he had time to make it to the pound. I hope the same happens to yours.

BTs are not normally dumped are they? Anyway, please feel free to PM me the details and I can put him on Doglost for you if you are stuck. My password is etched in my memory!

Do you have a sign outside your house saying

"all strays welcome"

This is what the second one in 3 months? How is the Rottie by the way?

p.s Get a spy hole put in your door and ignore all strangers!!!

:D

Allover, you're not the first to say that! That was the third in about 6 months actually...
NicolaC, sorry, i should have updated, the Dog Warden came and got him last night and then the owner rang me this afternoon! V relieved to hear the dog was safe and fine.

I asked the Dog Warden (who I now know quite well!) about horserider's suggestion of just following the dog home and she was horrified, said they are often utterly bewildered, have no idea which way home is, and are very likely to get run over or cause an accident if you do that...

anyway, this one has a happy ending, thank goodness. :) :) :)
ta all.
